Whatsapp Beta (UWP) Dark Mode, New UI Features

In the previous year, whatsapp launched a universal windows platform for windows 10 and windows 11 users by releasing whatsapp UWP app on Microsoft Store. Whatsapp built this app using the universal windows platform and is more stable and faster than the previous ones as it is using Electron Framework for better performance now. It’s experience is far better than whatsapp, although whatsapp web works fine but this windows application has a better user experience on record. You can use this link to download whatsapp uwp app on your windows 10 or windows 11 operating system. And the best thing is that Whatsapp UWP can be used alongside whatsapp desktop or whatsapp web. This app is available in beta version, it means that the app is still in early stages so all advance features couldn’t be found on this application.

Recently there is an update from whatsapp which was published by WABetaInfo that the whatsapp uwp dark mode is going to be released in future update of whatsapp universal windows platform. Adding support for dark mode in whatsapp beta app will make the experience even better than before.

How to use it?

As this app’s interface is different from whatsapp, let me show you how to turn on dark mode in Whatsapp Beta (UWP):

  • Click on the settings icon on the top right corner of the chat section.
  • Navigate to General and you will see a theme section sanction right next to Login.
  • In the theme section, you will find 3 options to choose from
    • System Default
    • Light
    • Dark
  • System default theme is the default theme that whatsapp sets for you by looking at the theme you set by default on your system. Then there is an option to switch to light mode which is a typical whatsapp mode. Third option is to activate the dark mode.

This dark mode feature color scheme is similar to whatsapp and whatsapp web. WhatsApp Beta also takes advantage of the FD Elements (Fluent Design Elements) in Windows 11, this is all because Whatsapp UWP development team switched to WinUI 2.6.
